The Certificate Program’s online courses are 12 weeks long and are designed to be taken simultaneously. The online courses are designed to complement each other in terms of their content.
Our online course are delivered via our customized learning environment which includes the FREE Apple iPad, online discussion boards, weekly video lectures, audio feedback, bookshelf for readings and texts, and more.
The Philosophy of Clinical Ethics and Health Policy course teaches students the basic philosophical terms and concepts used in clinical ethics consultation and health policy and outlines the basic philosophies of each of these activities.
The Practice of Clinical Ethics and Health Policy course is a skills-based course designed to provide students with a broad range of tools and methods for doing clinical ethics consultation and health policy analysis in health care institutions. The course is also taught using case studies as examples for how these methods are used in real-life settings.
The Certificate Program’s online curriculum is uniquely based upon the ASBH Core Competencies for Health Care Ethics Consultation, The American Journal of Bioethics texts, and the JCAHO Standards. Each week’s video lecture, texts, and course objectives are linked to these competencies and standards so that students can clearly identify the concepts and methods they are learning.
