Curriculum

The Certificate in Clinical Ethics (CCE) Program  is a multi-institutional training program designed to provide healthcare professionals the knowledge and practical skills necessary for identifying and resolving ethical dilemmas in healthcare ethics and policy.

Students enrolled in the CCE will obtain crucial knowledge and skills in identifying ethical problems, moral decision-making, clinical ethics consultation, policy analysis, case-based reasoning, and more.

Students in the program will take a total of three courses:

  • The Philosophy of Clinical Ethics and Health Policy (3 cr.)
  • The Practice of Clinical Ethics and Health Policy (3 cr.)
  • The Onsite Clinical Ethics and Health Policy Practicum (6 cr.)

The 3 credit courses last 12 weeks and are taken online simultaneously. The 6 credit practicum is taken onsite in Kansas City and takes place over two weekends and one work week (approximately 9 days). The program lasts approximately a total of 6 months.
